Fabulous First Lunch of 2020
What a fabulous first lunch of 2020. The venue was very cosy and full of character. The food was very well presented and delicious. The wine and conversation flowed. What more could you ask on a wet Tuesday in February?
Christmas Lunch 2019
What a lovely Christmas lunch at the Brin du Thym on Friday. The simple menu cannot accurately describe the beautifully presented and flavourful dishes that we all enjoyed. It was another lively gathering in a pretty restaurant against the backdrop of a sodden countryside! There was the usual lovely raffle (which, as usual, I didn’t win!) raising funds for the chosen charity of 2019 – Nepal – Enfance et Lumière.
Annitta (NEDWA President) also took the opportunity to introduce the newest member of the NEDWA Committee – Debbie Colclough – who has agreed to take over the role of Lunch Co-ordinator left vacant by the recent resignation of Helen Cox. Helen’s contribution and hard work will be sorely missed but it is lovely to welcome a new member of the Committee.
One of our regular events is lunch for members and their guests. Guests might be visiting family and friends or other local ladies who want to meet and chat over a good meal and a glass (or two) of wine. This is easily our most popular event when the widest range of members gather together.
Typically, we meet in February, April, June, September, October and in December for a pre-Christmas celebration.
Our current membership is spread over the Dordogne from north to south, east to west and we change the lunch venue every time. Everyone can have a ‘local’ and, hopefully, no-one has to travel more than 40 minutes.
Lunch is usually three courses (sometimes, four!) with wine and coffee included and we try to choose local, regional venues and menus for around €15 – €18. A vegetarian option is always offered and we do our best to cater for other dietary requirements.
There was a very good turnout for the NEDWA lunch on Friday. We had a very warm welcome and a delicious, beautifully presented lunch at the Brin du Thym on Friday. The food was full of flavour and looked amazing. There was plenty of chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
